OMD!!!!!

Crikey ..... I'm crook. Could be worse I s'pose .... I could be dead and I nearly was but I'll tell you about that later. For now I'm crook .... we are staying at this really nice little cottage in Beechworth Victoria.
Pretty, aye? It's got a verandah on every side.

It has the best yard .... I just love it.
The backyard!

There's rabbits. Can you believe that. RABBITS!!!!!! AND just outside the back door!  I'm in rabbit heaven!! I couldn't believe my luck when I first went to investigate the yard. They were running everwhere. I didn't know which one to chase first but chase I did. It's funny but they disappeared and I couldn't find them and now they won't come out to play ... but back to the crook bit.
This is where the rabbits live. Can you see where they've been digging? I could sure smell 'em!

The proof they are here!

There's lots of fruit trees in the back yard and I LOVE fruit. Don't now if it's a whippet thing or what but I REALLY love fruit. ALL fruit. The first fruit tree I found was a fig. OMD figs .... fair dinkum that would have to be one of my very favourite fruits.
YUM!

There was heaps of half rotted figs on the ground. I devoured soooooooooo many!!! Then I found an apple tree. None on the ground but I didn't manage to grab myself one from a low branch and got into that as well. Next there were cherry tomatoes ... crikey .... it doesn't get much better than that, aye??
More YUM!

What ... ME! What did I do?????

I had the best time ... what with chasing rabbits and my fill of fruit. All was well till late in the arvo when my tummy started to rumble like you wouldn't believe and THEN .... OMD .... I needed "pwivacy pwease" real bad!!!!! Who knew fruit could do that to you? Why didn't someone warn me? Woe was me!!!!!! BUT .... here's the worst part ..... do you know what Mum and Dad did? No ... I didn't think so!!!!  They laughed and said really loudly "I TOLD YOU SO"! Crikey ... where's the sympathy????? I'm always sympathetic when they are crook. You'd think I'd learn, aye but once I was feeling a bit better I got hold of a pomegranate (spelling??) but this time I took it  to Mum to see if it was ok.
Can you see the pomegranate's on the tree? Crikey Enid ... you would LOVE this place!!!!!!
My Girlfriend, Enid, likes pomegranate and when I saw a pomegranate tree in the yard I just had to have a try. I've NEVER tried a pomegranate before. Who knew they grew on trees? I did have a bit of a chew on it but when Mum saw it she wouldn't let me have it. Threw it in the white monster in the kitchen. That white monster gets a lot of good stuff, aye?? Just shows you should never, ever show your Mum or Dad any good stuff you find.
Now ...  back to the nearly dead bit!! After all the fruit eating, 'pwivacy pwease' episode and rabbit chasing we went to have a nice lunch down town. Found a great little pub with an outside area where I could join Mum and Dad for lunch. All was going well. I was being a good bloke and behaving myself under the table and Mum and Dad were enjoying themselves immensely. Very quickly the sky turned black. Black as a hat I might add! A wind or gale or something blew up but we didn't worry to much. We were under a bit of cover and it wasn't cold or anything so we just stayed put. Then it rained. Well not so much rain but RAIN!!!!!! It poured ..... still no problem .... we were under cover and dry. It only lasted a short while and then the sun came out again and just as it did OMD!!!!!! I nearly jumped through the sky .... Mum screamed and Dad looked extremely startled. Now this was spooky! The sun was beginning to shine, the rain had stopped and this GREAT BIG flash hit something REALLY close to us. It was VERY scary. Before it hit you could hear a big crackle and then a flash and at exactly the same time the biggest clap of thunder I have ever heard. I THOUGHT  I WAS DEAD!!!!!! MUM THOUGHT SHE WAS DEAD!!!!!!! Dad thought it was great. He loves storms. We could smell burning but couldn't see anything burning. Everyone that was inside the pub ran out to have a look  and to see if we were ok.  All the power had gone out. Crikey it was scary!!!!Mum and Dad said they have been in lots of storms before but never encountered anything like that. Sure don't want to encounter anything like that again. I nearly died. Dad says Mum and I are over dramatic but I don't think so. That was a close one, aye??
More later ....

Wanna run ... Love, Charlie.

    1. Haaahaaahaaa! The garden of Eatin.' Too funny, Zoe!!
This house is a favourite of Mum and Dad's. They know the owner. She lives in the city and lets this, her country house, out when she's not there. A lot of people do this. Mum finds them on the internet thingoe. She searches 'dog friendly accommodation' in the town she wants to stay. There's quite a lot now. Just a few years ago you couldn't stay anywhere with your dog but there's lots now. Harri and Lucy stayed in some pretty second rate places when they travelled, compared to me. They also did a lot of camping which I have never done.

  2. OMD!!
    You could have...well, nevfurmind...

Glad all it needed was a private moment to fix the ovfurindulgent issue...and so glad that you all didn't get frittered. Now that would have been way too scary.

Beautiful digs you have there to stay in. Are those places homes that their peeps are away from on a vacation and let them out to others? Win - win I think.

Did you sample those bunny candies? BOL! I try to snag those when they are available. Deer doo-doo...thats good fur rolling in!

  3. OMD! We usually just ignore the storm rumblings we occasionally get, but we don't think we could have ignored THAT! Luckily, it rained FIRST, so there wasn't a fire.

Looks like a great place to hang up your lead and stay awhile.

    XXXOOO Bella & Roxy

    1. There was a fire Bella and Roxy ... not where we were but up the road a ways!! There were homes under threat so heaps of brigades were sent out but they were having trouble keeping it contained. Luckily another storm hit with lots and lots of rain which put it out pretty quickly. We went to the golf course later in the day (it's leash free .... that's right .... a whole golf course!!!!) and there was a HUGE gum which had also been hit by lightning. There was a very large branch on the ground and you could see where it had been split right down the trunk. Scary!!

  6. Poor Charlie - did no one warn you figs are a natural laxative :) When the Mom lived in Australia she had a HUGE fig tree in the back yard - heck it took up the whole back yard! Mom loves seeing pics of home and your cottage reminded her of one she stayed at in the Barossa Valley

    1. Ahhhhhh! The Barossa valley ..... that's a nice place I hear. Mum and Dad and Harri went there but I'm yet to go. Crikey I'm glad I didn't live with your Mom when she lived in Australia. I can't even begin to imagine how sick I'd have been with a HUGE tree like that. I was real crook and it was only a little tree.

    1. It's ok Enid ... I didn't get hurt but it was scary. I so wish you could have been in that garden with me Enid. It was sooooo pretty and all that fruit and BUNNIES! Crikey they were fun to chase. They came out of the bushes every night so I did get to do a bit of chasing but I couldn't catch one. They ran behind a big fence and I couldn't get through to them.
      Love always, Charlie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
