Philip Hughes!!

Australia's sad at the moment. We've lost a really good young bloke. Real TRUE BLUE!!! He got hit in the neck by a cricket ball and died. You may have heard of him. He played cricket for Australia. His name was Philip Hughes and he was only 25 years old and a GREAT cricket player. I Thought maybe we here at Blogville could come up with some POTP for his family and the poor young bloke that bowled the ball down that hit him. His name is Sean Abbott and he's hurting pretty bad at the moment. Crikey  ..... all of Australia is just so sad. Cricket is our NATIONAL sport and our cricket team is full of real good blokes. Blokes we are VERY proud of. To lose one has hit everyone real hard but his family and close friends must really need some help at the moment. If you have a prayer or two to spare I'm sure they won't go astray, aye??
RIP Philip ..... you will be sadly missed mate!!

People everywhere are leaving their bats out as a tribute to Philip. Even Google featured a cricket bat today. Here's one at the beach.

Wanna run .... Love, Charlie.

  1. Oh Charlie, we too think this is such a sad story. We don't associate cricket with violent death. And yes we too feel sorry for the Sean Abbott, who will have to live with the unintended consequences of his fast bowling.
    Just too tragic.
    Best wishes,
    Gail and Bertie.
PS When Gail was a child and used to play cricket on the back lawn with her brother, they would pretend that he was an Australian fast bowler and she was an England batsman. She used to fear deliveries from that well known bowler Lillian Thompson!

    1. I see your Gail is a real cricket tragic like my Mum. I bet she watches those long drawn out ashes series and neglects you like my Mum neglects me. Funny but she enjoys it most when we are playing against you blokes. That barmy army sure make it interesting, aye?? AND the Aussie/Pommie rivalry ..... what to say?? It's all in good fun!! Crikey Gail sure has a good memory. That Lillian Thompson bowler goes back a ways, aye? They were a great pair and larrikins to boot.

  2. This so very, very sad. We were all shocked when we heard the news yesterday morning, far, far too young!
We heard about the cricket bats being left out on the news this morning, what a very fitting tribute.
His friends and family are in our thoughts!

    1. Thanks Julie ..... It's all we here in Australia can think about at the moment. It really has shocked the nation. I can't even begin to imagine what his friends and family are going through. They need all the help we can give them. It was to be Philip's 26th birthday tomorrow. How horrific that day is going to be for his Family. Just so, so sad!!

Oh yes for sure Charlie mate... as an Aussie by choice, and a crickaholic, I had hopes for young Hughes becoming a bit of a legend... well, he has, but in the most tragic circumstances. Prayers are up... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

I think for that 2 days we were ALL hoping but somehow knew that it wasn't going to turn out well.
