My first flower Friday!!

Crikey ...... you all know my Secretary is hopeless and couldn't join a blog hop if her life depended on it but I just have to join in on Arty and Jakey's flower Friday this week because we found a VERY SPECIAL flower just the other day and we immediately thought of our dear and wonderful friend, Dory.  She might be at the bridge now but she's still in all our hearts, aye??  So here's the special flower ...
DORYanthes EXCELSa!!!!!!!!!  It grows abundantly here in Australia and is known commonly as the Gymea Lily.
The name is derived from Ancient Greek language and Dory means spear and anthes means FLOWER (how apt for Dory, aye?) And we all know what excelsa means, aye, cause our Dory sure excelled.  Matter of fact she was EXCELlent.
Sorry we aren't around much but Mum's old eyes just aren't up to it.  She's fit and well though so don't worry, aye?  I'm great ...... but then ..... that goes without saying, aye??

Wanna run ... Love, Charlie.

  16. Charlie my handsome matey what a lovely post in memory of our precious Dory....how appropriate to have such a beautimous flower with shared name.
Thanks for stopping by to say hi and we are so glad you are healed from that nasty beach dog. We wish tons of fleas on him for hurting you.
I, Madison D Cat, senior Diva in residence am perking along too. It appears I do best w many mini meals a day. My tummy doesn't get over stuffed. I'm do just ok accepting my SubQs fluids...I just don't like to be confined. The other 2 seniors here usually about about 1/2 - 3/4 dose in me on the designated days. Ladies are not supposed to talk about such things but heck it is you and you are my matey so I'll share.
OMCs/OMDs 2 weeks ago this coming Thursday I was having a wee issue with my daily poop routine. Old eagle eye mom and her co cohort dad took me to the vet. Good news is my ropy intestines no longer felt ropy but OMCs I was full of pooooooooooooop. I had to get an enema.........YIKES....matey I do not recommend that...poop any chance you get. Pardon the pun but everything worked 'out'! Now I am on 1/8 tsp of miralax 2x a day. It ain't much good buddy but oh does it work. Another sign of aging I guess. As mom has been known to say, they are in uncharted territory with me as I'm the most senior pet they have had.
But we 3 are taking each day as it comes and loving and living with gusto.
Hugs to your sweet mum and kitty kisses to you
    Madi your bfff and mom

  18. What a gorgeous flower! And though I love to hear from Mum, I fully support taking a break from computer stuff to save the eyes for more important things, like looking at dogs and flowers. Hugs to all!
