Spose you think I've been having a good time!!!

Crikey ... I s'pose you think I've been having a good time.  Well that couldn't be further from the truth. I'm here to tell you that since I've been missing in action I've had the WORST time EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much has happened I'll have to do this in installments cause Mum is still mighty busy and me and my problems have only added to the stress.  You'll NEVER guess ... so I'll have to tell you .... I got a chunk taken out of me again.  It's worse this time!!  It's in a bad spot and I've got muscle damage. Wanna know what happened???  Of course you do!!!!!  Dad was away working and it was raining in Paradise so Mum decided to take me to a leash free park instead of the beach. It's a great park and I've been there heaps of times before and I know most of the dogs.

This is where it all happened.

It's even got a place to swim.

Pretty, aye??

I should have stayed hidden behind this tree, aye??  I'm camouflaged. They'd have never found me here.

Spose they'd have got me from this angle.

There are 2 German Shepherds that I have played with and ran with heaps of times before without any trouble. They are good blokes with good owners ... BUT ...... this day they ganged up on me.  One of them was chasing me and the other one hung back and came at me, out of nowhere, and took a chunk out of me. I screamed. Everyone knew I was hurt.  The two owners and Mum came up and calmed me down and Mum rushed me off to see Peter, the Vet. Yep ..... you guessed it ..... I spent the night in hospital after being knocked out and stitched up AGAIN!!!!!!!!

It was a real deep wound.  AND in a bad spot. Every time I stretch it hurts.

This was the next day. I couldn't stay awake. My Sorry Ass looked after me.  Thanks Goose!!! I know you were looking down on me too, aye??

Crikey I was tired!!

Well its better than those plastic things and it did the job.  I couldn't get at that wound no matter how hard I tried.  AND try I did!!

It was lookin' pretty good here.
Dad got back the next day and he went and saw the two blokes to see if they would help with the Vet bill (it was VERY substantial).  Would you believe they both blamed the other bloke's dog. Mum couldn't say which one it was that did the biting, as to her, all GSD's look the same. Dad suggested that they each pay a third of the bill and they both said that was a very fair decision and agreed so at least this time we didn't have to pay the whole bill.  We had to leave for Sydney just before the stitches came out (Nan's crook again) so I had to go to another Vet to have the stitches out and guess what????  I hadn't healed up real good. They took the stitches out and I was VERY brave but then ...... they had to put some staples in. Three of them!!!!!!!!  Fair dinkum ....... THREE!!!!!!!!!  They got the first one in without much of a fuss.  Mum was feeding me dried chicken treats ....... they got the second one in ....... with a little bit of a fuss. I was positively inhaling chicken treats. They got the third one in ...... fair dinkum .....  I was outta there. There was NO WAY they were going to do that again!!!!!!! Mum nearly passed out. She's as big a wuss as I am.  I've gotta have them out in four days time.  Yeah ...... like that's going to happen!!!!!!

Not lookin so good now, aye??  AND get a load of those staple thingoes.  How would you like those in you????  I don't like em ... not even a little bit.
In the middle of all that we had Miss G's birthday.  I had a lousy day.  I went but I had to stay in my crate. I did get to watch all the action but there's no fun in that, aye?  AND Miss Poppy PooPoo pants got to eat all the left over cake and I didn't get any ICECREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I HAD A LOUSY DAY!!!!!!!!   I'll show you all the birthday pics in the next installment. IF I'm still alive!!

Wanna run (I can't) ........  Love, Charlie.

  1. Oh Charlie, we are so very sorry that you got so badly hurt. That's why our Mom won't take us to dog parks. We are glad that those two owners were at least willing to pay something toward your care. Now let's hope this time you heal well and quickly. Hugs.

  2. Eeeew Charlie, those staples! I hope you heal up nicely. Some dogs just shouldn't be permitted to walk around unleashed. Mom was so angry on the beach the other day when a beeeeg dog threatened me - I thought she'd take a bite out of the human.

  4. Oh dear Charlie, you have been in the wars again. I know all about how dogs who are usually nice and have good owners can one day behave our of character and suddenly you're at the vet and having stitches. I must say Charlie, I didn't like the look of those staples. I showed the picture to Gail and you know what she said? "Pah Bertie that's nothing! Just three staples? When I was in my thirties I had to have a rather obscure operation and ended up with 52 (yes FIFTY TWO) staples holding together my thigh. When I was discharged from hospital, they gave me a staple extractor, just like the ones you get in offices really, and told me to take it along to the GP when it was time to have the staples out. So two weeks later the GP takes the staple extractor out of the package, looks puzzled, admits he's never used one before, then asks Gail if there and any bits of the wound still numb through nerve damage he can use for practice …"
    Hope you heal quick mate!

  5. OMD Charlie! That was a horrible thing to happen. (Can't believe the owners wouldn't donate SOMETHING to the bill.) We'll keep our paws crossed that it heals quickly, so you can get out and run! (Oh, and also, so you get some ice cream.)

    Hope your nan improves....

    1. It's been a tough week and it's not over yet. The other owners are going to help with the bill though. They agreed to split it 3 ways. It means we have to pay a third but that's better than paying for the whole lot, aye??
I hope I get some icecream too. I deserve it, aye??

    Yikes!

Please just stay on your nice beaches from now on...
Well, at least the bitey pups owners helped out with the $$ part.

I hope you heal up now that those staples are holding things together...

I hope and pawray that your Nan will get better, too.

    POTP!!
Hey! Maybe you will let the vet take them out for the price of a big bowl of delis ice cream! Try it!!

    1. Mum reckons there'll be no more dog parks for me. Maybe on a lead but where's the fun in that. I'll still go to the beach but I'll only be allowed to run with dogs I know and Mum trusts. I sure hope I get some icecream soon. I'm on a promise again so it will happen. It just takes Mum a bit of time to get round to these things. I know it will be delis ice when it does happen, aye?? Stupid computers.

Charlie, maaaateee.. that is just horrifurs... there is no accounting for what happens when blokes you knew before suddenly gang up and 'turn'. So glad their peeps paid up though; vets are good but they know how to charge for being good too!!!

Sorry to hear your nan is not so good again. Sending lots of healing thoughts via ether for you, for mum (what a shock), for nana and let's include the world whilst we're here, eh? Yea, with you at that end, and me at this end, we could staple the globe with Love!!! &*>

Nan is ok .... not good ..... but ok. Winter time is hard on old, old people. At least I can put a smile on her face.
The neck brace is GREAT. I had one of those horrible plastic cone things last time and it kept getting in the way but this one is soft and cosy.

You sure were right about Mum. She was a right state but she holds it all together for me. I think, when she finally got home without me, it might have been a different story though. She only just managed to hold it together when they were putting those staple things in. When I got down off that silver table the Vet asked Mum if SHE was ok. She was shaking like a leaf and didn't look too good. I was VERY brave, however.
Nans doing ok thanks Madi. Winter is always hard on her. Her lungs are not too good but she's in very good hands so hopefully we'll get her through another winter. It means we are travelling to Sydney a lot but Mum feels she has to be here for her.

  16. Charlie, I really feel so bad for you. Just seeing those pictures made me hurt too. We don't go to dog parks. Mom says its because I always want to show the other dogs who's boss. I just want you to heal up, get rid of those horrible, horrible looking staples and have a big dish of ice cream. I may just have to have some ice cream to make me feel better for you. Skittlez wouldn't even look at your pictures. She is just a wimp. My Mom is sending your Mom lots of hugs because she knows this is really hard for her too.

  17. Good grief Charlie! Don't you have the worst of luck? We're glad your doing OK now and are so sorry your were hurt and had to go through all that pain and misery. Remember our good friend Miss Charlee had a similar experience at a dog park. We're glad you got the other guys to help pay the vet bill. (The vet bill for Joey dog's tummy ache was $300!!!!) Joey and I and the whole family hope you and your family will be feeling better real soon.

    1. Crikey Chester and Joey I do remember your friend Miss Charlee but I didn't know she got hurt at a dog park. I don't think I'll be going to any more dog parks. So far the Vet bill for me stands at $870. And that's the truth. How funny is that?? Mum didn't realise until she typed this up for me that the bill was EIGHTY SEVEN with a nought on the end. $300 for a tummy ache is a lot of dollars, aye?? Mum says as long as we get better it doesn't really matter how much it costs but I'd rather have $870 worth of icecream myself. That'd make me better.
