Don't blame me!!!

Crikey .... you asked for it so DON'T BLAME ME!!!!!
I tried to stay awake but, fair dinkum, how could I??????????
Our first day in Germany was spent here at Bad Kreuznach. Watched young people carrying on an old tradition of boat jousting. A lot of fun was being had by all.
So many churches.  This one was a bit different though!!  No way that one will fall day. Build your house upon the rock was a song I learnt in Sunday school. This was taken literally, aye??
At Brugges in Belgium.  Beautiful city.
Colmar in France. So many flowers!! Beautiful.
Colmar.
Colmar.
More Colmar.  Very picturesque with all the flowers.
Looks like you in your young days, aye, Mr JF Sir.
You can see the window with the people and JRT if you look closely.
All the churches had their harvest offerings. This one was particularly beautiful.
Neuschwanstein castle. Beautiful. We have seen it before on sunny days. Nice to see with a bit of cloud around.
Hmmmmmmmm!! You Scottie blokes are everywhere, aye??  Mittenwald in Germany.
Reminiscing!!  A small guest house we stayed in many years previously. The same people owned it and remembered us. We were welcomed with open arms, kisses and hugs. They bought out an atlas in which, on the map of Australia, I had written places they were to see if they ever visited Australia. It was strange to see my handwriting in that altlas after all those years. Their son was 5 the last time we were there. He is now 15 and huge. We saw him again. HE didn't remember us. I wonder why??
Well I love cows and these two were just so lovely.
The view from our guest house in a little town in Bavaria.

Taken from the window in our room.
The little golden roof in Innsbruk.

Ettal cathedral.
Oberammergau. One of our favourite villages. Home of the passion play. Performed every 10 years since the 17th century. Beautiful painted houses everywhere. Very pretty place.
Hotel Wolf in Oberammergau.  The owners  hold seminars and dog training weeks. You stay in the hotel with your dog. There are facilities behind the hotel for training. Agility, flyball, all sorts of things. Here's where you can find them. It's worth a look.   http://www.hotel-wolf.de/   I wanted to do it but I think the plane trip and quarantine laws would kill our Charlie boy.
Coming out of Hotel Wolf. This was a VERY well behaved boy.
Mmmmmmmm.  Paul Newman????  Trying to look like a German.
How good does this bloke look??
We stumbled across a happening in another of our favourite villages. Dinkelsbuhl.

I honestly don't think this bloke was dressed up for the happening. I'm sure he dresses like this all the time and how good did he look???

Wertheim.  We took our Jen here when she graduated from Uni. We told her it was where Diagon Alley in Harry Potter was filmed. She believed us.  We have since put her straight.

Very cute half timbered house in Wertheim.
We took this as we took the same photo ten years previously. We didn't have poo bags in Australia in those days. We do now. Wertheim castle in the background.
Crikey ..... Is that the SAME person pinching poo bags!!

BORING, AYE!!!!!!   As I said ... DON'T BLAME ME!!!!!!!!

Wanna run ....   Love, Charlie.

  3. Ahhh...Loved the tour!
Well, growlmy did, I am sleeping...until she squeed at the JRT! And found the 'hidden' one too, and woofed at the scottie and sheltie(?).

The little boy (I thinks he's a boy...), in that group of children reminded growlmy of your MsG...but in a clothed edition, BOL!

Did you take the boat tour of the canals/waterways in Brugge? Growlmy, Auntie and a cousin did that, it was marvelous!

    1. Crikey .... I'll let Mum answer your questions etc.
      * That little boy was such a sweetie. Far too pretty to be a boy! He did look a little like our Miss G. I took lots of photos of those children. They were so beautiful. I was worried the parents might think I was up to no good. It's terrible that we have to feel that way these days.
We did do the canal tour in Brugge as well as a horse and buggy tour. What a beautiful place. So much history and so old. Nothing is old like that in Australia or America for that matter I guess. It was very busy in Brugge. So many tourists but I can understand why. We found it much busier, everywhere we went, than it was 10 years ago. We saw and photographed lots of dogs. JRT's are very popular but that little bloke was exceptionally cute. French bull dogs, however, we found to be flavour of the month or something. We saw far more of them than any other breed. Ten years ago it was westies.

  5. What a wonderful trip! Did your mum spot any wire-haired fox terriers? I only ask 'cos when Gail went cycling in Alsace she sent me a picture of a WFT she spotted in Eguishein (v. near Colmar).

    1. Not one Bertie ..... not one!!!!! AND she was lookin'. Ten years ago they saw one in Rottweil in Germany. No Rottweilers but one WFT and loads of westies. How funny is that. Mum thought there would be Rotties everywhere. They also went to England and Scotland then too and did see quite a few WFT's there. Our Lucy was alive and well then and Mum was missing her terribly so she accosted every WFT she saw.

  6. Well, we played tug, but SHE loved them. Dinklelsbuhl was where SHE bought HER very first Birkenstocks, boy that was a long time ago and Wertheim was where SHE bought the ones to replace the ones Roxy chewed, that replaced the ones Bella chewed.

    SHE loves Europe......
We'll just continue playing chasings. We had to go camping.

    1. Crikey .... sounds like it's time for your Mum to go back to get another pair of Birks. Your Mum went to Wertheim???? My Mum thought she was the only Aussie ever to go there. It's not a real touristy village but it is very pretty according to her.

Whut were the kiddos doin with the bigger person? Looks like a anvil they are sittin 'round.

    1. Your Mommy's never been nowhere??? Crikey ..... that's how my Mum would like it. She only goes because Dad wants her too but she did enjoy it. She reckons she can see all those places on global village on TV so why does she need to go there.
Mum's not sure what the kids were doing but it was a medieval happening and his Dad was a blacksmith so I guess the lady was showing the kids how to bash iron or something. The little bloke had a hammery thingoe and was hitting something on the anvil thing. You can see Mum's right into all that stuff, aye??

  12. it's not boring, Charlie, it's great! my grand grampy was born in Colmar, it's a nice place, right? and the event in Dinkelsbuehl looks great too. was it a medieval fest there? I love such events, have you tried the food too?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh ..... that's nice that Mum visited your Grampy's village, Easy. It is a nice place. So many flowers!! Beautiful. It was a medieval festival in Dinkelsbuhl. Mum loved seeing all the people all dressed. They would just look ridiculous here in Australia but over there in such a beautiful old village it just looked so natural. Everyone was so happy and had so much fun.
Did they try the food????? OMD! I lost weight fretting for them while they were away. Mum put on 3 kilos and is now trying to get rid of it. Mum and Dad loved the food. Especially the pork knuckles. They could have bought me back a pork knuckle or two but no such luck for me.

OH MY DAWG... we ADORED this post... butt WHERE were the DACHSHUNDS?
    THANKS fur taking us along.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You're not going to believe this Frankie and Ernie but Mum and Dad hardly saw any dachshunds. Did you know you are not called a dachshund in Germany. You are known as Dakkels over there. How funny is that?? Mum took heaps of photos of EVERY dog she saw (not quite but almost every one). She has one of a dachshund and she would have put it in this post but it wasn't a very good photo. The poor bloke got cut in half. Ten years ago when they were there westies were EVERYWHERE. This time it was French Bulldogs. Everytime they turned around there was another one. They went to Rotteil ten years ago and thought they would see heaps of Rottweilers. Nope!! Not one .... just westies.
