The snow's GONE!!

There was no snow on my beach today.  It disappeared overnight.  Magic, aye??  It got Mum thinking about water temperatures so she checked a few out.  The water temperature at my beach today is 26.6 degrees CELCIUS! That's about 80F I think. Like a warm bath, aye??  Mum doesn't know the names of beaches in the States but she found one in Maine called Wells Beach. The temperature there was 5.5 degrees CELCIUS.  Crikey .... does anyone swim in THAT??????  Californian beaches were about 17C.  That's not too bad, aye??  Good enough to paddle in. She checked Volendam in Holland.  6.7 degrees CELCIUS.  Struth!!   Brighton in the UK ... 8.3 degrees CELCIUS.  Positively balmy, aye??  Hey Mr JF Sir ...... what is the temp of Lake Mitch Again today??  Do you know?? 
It's a bit cooler here today. Its 26C degrees at the moment. Crikey ..... the same as the water almost. It's only supposed to get to 30C today.  What's it like at your house?

We went to the duck ponds with the little girls on Sunday. Here's some photos.

They let them go before we went home!!

There were NO ducks. They were all under the trees. There's not usually water there so I guess there's lots of insects and good stuff for them to eat.

      Mmmmmmmmmm!! It's cold even when it's WARM????? Crikey. Don't they even swim in summer?? Why bother having a beach??

    OMD! That is some warm water Charlie!!! That 17c musta been in Souther California, cause our beaches up here near San Francisco are MUCH colder than that! Even in the summer, you have to put on a wet suit if you wanna surf for any amount of time! Crazy, huh? Anyhu, your shrunken peeps look like they had one FABulous day at the ponds!! When Ma was a wee lass, she used to go tadpole catchin' too! It was lots of funs, and a great way to spend the day. Your shrunken peeps are gettin mighty adorables!!!!

      It was Santa Monica pier temps Ruby ..... Mum's got no idea where that is but it was the first one that came up when she looked at San Fransisco.
      Crikey ...... I didn't know you had to wear wet suits in summer. We don't even need those in winter here. Further south you do but not here. Our water temp in winter is about 22C.
      The girls had a great time and so did I. They are as cute as buttons, aye?? They spent hours catching those fish and taddies. It was a good day.

    The FIRST time SHE ever got in the ocean it was in Maine.....summer, and it was freezing! The water has to be VERY warm here, for her to venture in.

    Looks like super fun mate..when we went away the water was 29C?? like a hot bath hahahah..and the pools were the same..not real cooling ..looks like you all had super fun! i may go hop in the pool it's 26C in there now :) loves Fozziemum xxx

    Um..it was-7F here this morning...and Lake Mitchagain is mostly frozen over...Brrr! Think ICE.

    Zaidie's lake/beach/park will be much the same...don't wanna be anywhere's near them BOL! Only if skates and ear muffs are provided.

    Your beach looks so inviting! But since I do not care fur getting my tootsies wet, you may enjoy it with your gals:)) And look at you swimming!!

      I've been looking at photos of your lake and Zaidie's. Crikey ...... I sure wouldn't be swimming there. I used to hate getting my tootsies wet too but I love it now. When it's hot you've gotta cool down somehow.

    Here in Denmark where I live it is + 4 degrees C. Luckily have have + 24 C in the house. Mom is always so cold :) We want your hot water and you weather LOL.

      Crikey Laika ...... my Mum would die if she had to live at your place. She's cold even when it's hot. Spring won't be long for you now, aye?? Surely it will warm up for you soon. I sure hope so. We look forward to our winters. Our winters are probably like your summers. It's the best time of year here.

    Why Charlie I would say your beach is like a hot tub add a little humidity and you might have a hot tub sauna combo. Today I am negative 6 Fahrenheit which I think would be -21.1111111 Celsius which translated means I am freezing my bum off and my river is freezing over.

      We have the humidity too Sweet William. Most days here in summer are very hot and very humid. It is a bit like a sauna all the time. -21C??????? CRIKEY ...... does it REALLY get that cold??? Surely that can't be good for you. You'd NEVER get me outside in those temperatures. Do you really go outside???? I'm not worried about your river freezing but fair dinkum William ..... your bummy, mate ...... not to mention those other private areas ....... a saying the Torres Strait Islanders have for entering a gate where there are stinging grub things on it ...... 'quick in ..... quick out'. the same goes for you, aye, mate? Only it's quick out ....... quick in!!

    When I came down at 6AM for my morning cup of coffee it was 3 F (or about negative 16 C). 3 sounds bad enough, but in celsius it sounds down right hideous!
    It's been a very cold winter this year! I am ready for it to end!

    Dear Charlie,

    I am a snow expert, and I did not think that was snow... but that does seem to be how fast it disappears around our part of the world too, so perhaps I was wrong?

    Nature sure does make crazy things!

    Our Beach has water that is about 6 degrees celcius. It is best to play in our the water when the sun is warm!

    Perhaps you could send us some of your warm beach water? Next time it snows I will send some to you. How's that for a deal?

      Crikey Cobi ..... 6C sounds awful cold to me. Don't you get much snow where you are?? I thought all of Canada was freezing in the winter. Where abouts do you live in Canada. Mum was there in 1990 but it wasn't winter and she still saw snow. She reckons it's a very beautiful country.
      sounds like a good deal to me. My warm water for your snow. Do you think the postman will be able to manage that???? Or maybe Zaidie will do it for us in his lear jet, aye??

      That would be enough to kill my Mum. She complains if it goes below 20C. I know you come from Canada but which part?? I wish everyone would put their town on their blogs. I am ALWAYS so curious as to where everyone comes from.

    Charlie, you have the most remarkable coloring - I really love it! That looks like so much fun to splash around like that - a little jealous. We are so dry here. We may get some little puddles this weekend though!

      Her Mum said it was an eyebrow pencil whatever that is. Guess she likes her eyebrows all over the place, aye??
      Thankyou Blueberry. I was just born with this colour. A bit like your spots I guess. A lot of people say I look like a white tiger but I'm not fierce like a tiger. Sure hope you get some rain. We've had bucket loads of the stuff recently after a very long dry spell.

    No worries Charlie mate - the page will be here when mum's got the time.

    As to blog save - that is very easy. Go into the blog's setup pages where you see the list on the left of things like 'posts', 'comments', 'layout' and so on. At the bottom you will see 'settings'.

    Click that.

    Now click the 'other' at the bottom of the settings list. At the top of that page you will see links for import/export/delete. Click export.

    A box will come up with the 'download' instruction. It will go into your dowloads folder where you can the place it where you like for storage.

    What the help (eerrrr.. Mum) may not be aware of is that EVERY picture uploaded to blogger gets stored in the cloud on picasa. So once in the ether, always in the ether.... this is why it is advisable to 'watermark' all photographs. In theory they are secure to you, but as we know, lots of things turn up on Google images which I am fairly sure the copyright owners didn't want there!!!

    Be aware that what this export function exports only photographs and written content - it also holds onto comments made on the posts. It DOES NOT save the format of the blog page. If for any reason your page was compromised it would be necessary to set it up again and then IMPORT the saved items.

    Which brings up the need, if you are going to take this action, of saving regularly (once a week, say), so that the most you would lose in the event of a crash of the page is max 7 days.

    This brings up the need to back computer systems on a similar time scale. If a pc or tablet crashes, and you haven't backed up to an external storage device..... no sympathy here.... (she can be a hard woman at times, the old aunty...) Yxx

    It sure would Bacon ..... You'll be pleased to know that I'm getting on a lot better with Miss Poppy PooPoo pants these days. We now tolerate each other and I did have a swim with her in the kids pool the other day. She's a lot of fun but a bit of a bossy boots. I'm a bit scared of her but don't tell any of my mates that, aye. They'll think I'm a Wuss.
