R.I.P. Phillip!!!

Remember Phillip?  You know ...... the CHOOK at PoppyPooPoo Pants birthday party.  The CHOOK that was a girl but called Phillip.  Well ...... I am VERY sad to report that she died.  R.I.P. Phillip.

Miss G. liked her but Jo LOVED  her.  She was always cuddling her.

Now I normally wouldn't care about a CHOOK dying but this was no ordinary CHOOK!!  Phillip was kinda special.  She was sooooo friendly and EVERYONE loved her sooooooo much.  She was our little Jo's very special friend. Jo did everything with her.

Jo and Phillip watched movies together, When Jo was sick Phillip comforted her. Jen loved her too. So did Murphy.
She loved that CHOOK sooooo much it wasn't funny. She was devestated.  No-one knows what happened.  She was fit and healthy the day before and was found by Jo's Mum in the morning just sitting on the nest peacefully but DEAD!!!  The chook man said it was unusual for a healthy chook to drop dead like that and felt it was probably a tick or maybe a snake that got it.  Crikey ...... how bad is that?????  Poor Jo. She was distraught.

The other girls weren't so bad. Miss Georgia wasn't affected.  She's a bit young. Miss Izzi was indifferent. She was never that close to Phillip, I guess, but the funeral service was a bit of a worry. Jo couldn't go. She stayed inside with her Mum and Miss G.    Phillip was placed in a box with flowers and a hole was dug by the girls' Dad with Miss Izzi watching the proceedings. As her Dad was busily digging the hole, Izzi asked "are we putting dead Phillip in that hole?"  Her Dad said "yes" and the next minute Izzi had picked  Phillip up by the head and tossed her in the hole.  She then proceeded to walk back inside.  No emotions ...... nothing!!!!  A psychopath in the making???????  Crikey ...... I hope not.

We got back home from our road trip a few days ago. Just in time to prepare.  It's raining here BIG TIME!!  We're on cyclone alert.  At present it's to the north of us and due to hit the coast around 10am tomorrow.  It's a category 3 right now but is expected to be a category 4 when it hits the coast.  Crikey ....... that's BIG!!  It will probably hit to the north of us but we have been told we will get very strong winds and HEAPS and HEAPS of rain. We went to the beach last night. It was WILD. We didn't go today and we won't be going tomorrow either, I guess.  Oh well .... I s'pose I'll cope for a few days, aye??

Wanna run ..... Love, Charlie.

  1. So sorry to hear about Philip(pa). A tick or snake....that's scary. We hope Miss Jo feels better, so sad.

We've been watching the cyclone readiness on the News. Maybe all that rain you missed out on earlier is all going to come AT ONCE. Hope you don't flood.

    1. We've battened down the hatches so are all prepared. We probably will flood in the king tide tomorrow but it's never reached inside the house so I'm sure it won't this time either. Just our jetty and garden goes under. The winds could be a worry but we will cope with whatever happens. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they are saying it will be. Its rained ALL day today and very heavy at times. We do need it but perhaps not as much as we are going to get, aye?? Oh ...... all that info was from Mum!!

    1. Phillip was great ..... she will be VERY hard to replace. She was special. They have two others but they were never friendly like Phillip.
We'll be right Princess. We're all prepared and have been through these before so we know what to expect. Category 4 is a bit scary though. We've only been in a category 3 before. I'll let you know but we may not have power if it gets nasty so it might be a day or two before you hear from us.

We'll be fine. Will let you know how we fare but we are south of the expected land crossover and it has gone a bit further north than they first thought Hopefully we will only get the wind and rain but unfortunately others are really going to be hit hard.

Condolences for the chook - or rather, to those the chook left behind... I rather think the prayers have to now be focused on ALL of you on the QLD coast that you survive the oncoming forces with minimum trubs - it looks an absolute horror...Blessings hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  8. That is very sad about Philip. Chickens can be great pets. When my neices were little, my sister got each one a chick. They raised them as pets and loved them. One night a fox tried snagging one of them. The chicken got away, but not without a huge bite taken out of its, ahem, drumstick. My sister actually took the chicken to the vet to save it since her daughter was so distraught. The vet had a good laugh on that as he said no one ever brings in a chicken, they just get a new one. My sister spent well over $100in vet bills on the $2 chick! LOL!

    1. I think your sister is a very nice Lady to take the children's chicken to the Vet. Chickens need to be looked after just like we do, aye?? When Mum's daughters were little they had a baby turtle for a pet. Mum took it to the vet when it was sick and the Vet gave it an injection of vitamin B12. The needle was longer than the turtle. That also cost Mum more money than the cost of the turtle. The Vet said it was the first baby turtle he had ever treated.

  13. Charlie, this is awful! I know how you feel. Our Moonshine died not too long ago very unexpectedly. Mom was devastated as they dug a hole for her. One of our other chickens, Lonesome Dove, alerted Dad that Moonshine passed away. They were best buddies :(

Stay safe during the storm and give Jo a big hug and kiss for me please. Tell her Noodle said Phillip loved her VERY much and wouldn't want her to be sad anymore. <3

  14. Awww, poor Phillip. Rest in peace - even though she did certainly get chucked in that hole rather crudely. Hehehe - kids. She'd probably make an excellent farmer since she was so matter of fact about the whole thing!

We will be praying you are safe from the cyclone. Golly - that's frightening!
