Miss G. liked her but Jo LOVED her. She was always cuddling her. |
Now I normally wouldn't care about a CHOOK dying but this was no ordinary CHOOK!! Phillip was kinda special. She was sooooo friendly and EVERYONE loved her sooooooo much. She was our little Jo's very special friend. Jo did everything with her.
Jo and Phillip watched movies together, When Jo was sick Phillip comforted her. Jen loved her too. So did Murphy. |
The other girls weren't so bad. Miss Georgia wasn't affected. She's a bit young. Miss Izzi was indifferent. She was never that close to Phillip, I guess, but the funeral service was a bit of a worry. Jo couldn't go. She stayed inside with her Mum and Miss G. Phillip was placed in a box with flowers and a hole was dug by the girls' Dad with Miss Izzi watching the proceedings. As her Dad was busily digging the hole, Izzi asked "are we putting dead Phillip in that hole?" Her Dad said "yes" and the next minute Izzi had picked Phillip up by the head and tossed her in the hole. She then proceeded to walk back inside. No emotions ...... nothing!!!! A psychopath in the making??????? Crikey ...... I hope not.
We got back home from our road trip a few days ago. Just in time to prepare. It's raining here BIG TIME!! We're on cyclone alert. At present it's to the north of us and due to hit the coast around 10am tomorrow. It's a category 3 right now but is expected to be a category 4 when it hits the coast. Crikey ....... that's BIG!! It will probably hit to the north of us but we have been told we will get very strong winds and HEAPS and HEAPS of rain. We went to the beach last night. It was WILD. We didn't go today and we won't be going tomorrow either, I guess. Oh well .... I s'pose I'll cope for a few days, aye??
Wanna run ..... Love, Charlie.
So sorry to hear about Philip(pa). A tick or snake....that's scary. We hope Miss Jo feels better, so sad.
ReplyDeleteWe've been watching the cyclone readiness on the News. Maybe all that rain you missed out on earlier is all going to come AT ONCE. Hope you don't flood.
We've battened down the hatches so are all prepared. We probably will flood in the king tide tomorrow but it's never reached inside the house so I'm sure it won't this time either. Just our jetty and garden goes under. The winds could be a worry but we will cope with whatever happens. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they are saying it will be. Its rained ALL day today and very heavy at times. We do need it but perhaps not as much as we are going to get, aye?? Oh ...... all that info was from Mum!!
DeleteOh that's so so sad, I thought Philip was great ! Big hugs to Jo, poor sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI know you'll be doing your bit with luffs and hugs Charlie.
Take care in all that wind and rain Charlie, that sounds scary (don't forget to post to let us know how you are, 'cos we'll be worrying!)
Loves and licky kisses
Princess Leah xxx
Phillip was great ..... she will be VERY hard to replace. She was special. They have two others but they were never friendly like Phillip.
DeleteWe'll be right Princess. We're all prepared and have been through these before so we know what to expect. Category 4 is a bit scary though. We've only been in a category 3 before. I'll let you know but we may not have power if it gets nasty so it might be a day or two before you hear from us.
So sad 'bout Phillip... hope that Jo feels better soon. It's tuff to have to say good-bye to a favorite pet... now Miss Izzi....hmmmm.... either she is very practical-- "life is for da livin'" or she didn't give a fig for da chook. Rather matter of fact she is...bol!
ReplyDeleteY'all hunker down and stay safe! Let us know how yer doin' when ya can... we'll try to follow along on da internet to see how yer weather is doin'...
Jo will be ok. Jen will find a new chook for her and she'll get over it but she's pretty sad at the moment. Izzi on the other hand .... OMD ..... matter of fact is right!!
DeleteWe'll be fine. Will let you know how we fare but we are south of the expected land crossover and it has gone a bit further north than they first thought Hopefully we will only get the wind and rain but unfortunately others are really going to be hit hard.
Just heard Cycline Marcia, Marcia, Marcia will be a category 5 now when she crosses the coast! CRIKEY!! 😳
ReplyDeleteYep ....... We just heard it too. It's getting real scary now, aye??? We're getting bad wind gusts here from time to time now. How is it at your house??
DeleteWe are so sorry for Philip and poor Jo. It's hard to say goodbye to a friend. And the wind, pheew sounds scary. Take care and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is Laika. Jo is such a softie and she loved that chook so much.
DeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteCondolences for the chook - or rather, to those the chook left behind... I rather think the prayers have to now be focused on ALL of you on the QLD coast that you survive the oncoming forces with minimum trubs - it looks an absolute horror...Blessings hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
So sorry for the little ones. Have a tremendous Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
That is very sad about Philip. Chickens can be great pets. When my neices were little, my sister got each one a chick. They raised them as pets and loved them. One night a fox tried snagging one of them. The chicken got away, but not without a huge bite taken out of its, ahem, drumstick. My sister actually took the chicken to the vet to save it since her daughter was so distraught. The vet had a good laugh on that as he said no one ever brings in a chicken, they just get a new one. My sister spent well over $100in vet bills on the $2 chick! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI think your sister is a very nice Lady to take the children's chicken to the Vet. Chickens need to be looked after just like we do, aye?? When Mum's daughters were little they had a baby turtle for a pet. Mum took it to the vet when it was sick and the Vet gave it an injection of vitamin B12. The needle was longer than the turtle. That also cost Mum more money than the cost of the turtle. The Vet said it was the first baby turtle he had ever treated.
DeleteOh, we are so sorry bout that Philip burd. Those durn chickens, that happens to them sumtimes. They jus keel ofur.
ReplyDeleteTake care down there with yur wild weather.
Shur hope Miss Jo feels better bout Philip flyin ofur the Rainbow Bridge. I do think that's funny whut Miss Izzi did tho.
That Miss Izzi is a tough one, aye?? Jo is a real softie!! Sisters ...... AND so different!!
DeleteMom understands - growing up she had two fluffy bantams as pets too - Fifi and Esmeralda and they were just the same, they loved to be held and patted and followed Mom everywhere
ReplyDeleteI s'pose for chooks they are pretty nice, aye?? I love the names Fifi and Esmeralda. Better than Phillip!!!!
DeleteI'm so sad for Phillip, it hurts to lose a friend.... it's so sad to see the tears of your Jo, can you give her a hug from me please?
ReplyDeleteeasy rider
I'll give her the biggest hug from you Easy!! She is soooooooo sad!!!
DeleteHe was a very pretty chick, we are so sorry that he died, but hopefully not a snake how awful...little children handle loss much differently that those adults do, it hard to understand, kids are smarter....hope you stay dry and well...hugs to the kids....stella rose
ReplyDeleteThankyou ...... I'll pass the hugs on to the girls.
DeleteCharlie, this is awful! I know how you feel. Our Moonshine died not too long ago very unexpectedly. Mom was devastated as they dug a hole for her. One of our other chickens, Lonesome Dove, alerted Dad that Moonshine passed away. They were best buddies :(
ReplyDeleteStay safe during the storm and give Jo a big hug and kiss for me please. Tell her Noodle said Phillip loved her VERY much and wouldn't want her to be sad anymore. <3
I'll do that Noodle. I'm sure Jo will feel better. Especially when I tell her how everyone is thinking of her.
DeleteAwww, poor Phillip. Rest in peace - even though she did certainly get chucked in that hole rather crudely. Hehehe - kids. She'd probably make an excellent farmer since she was so matter of fact about the whole thing!
ReplyDeleteWe will be praying you are safe from the cyclone. Golly - that's frightening!
Better a farmer than a psychopath I guess.
DeleteCharlie, thanks for all the news...so sorry about Phillip and that Jo is so sad. I hope she feels better soon. I also hope very fiercely that you stay safe in the bad weather!
ReplyDeleteWe're safe Hazel ..... it's VERY bad up north though. We're seeing some pictures now on the Telly and it's not looking too good but so far no news of anyone being hurt or killed.
DeleteCrikey Charlie... we are SOOOOO sorry to hear of Phillip's passing.. So Sad.
ReplyDeleteOMD you are going to cyclone? THAT is scary. We hope you will be safe from the strong winds... Keep us Posted...
Again, we are so very very sorry about the Passing of Miss Phillip.
It hit north of us Frankie ..... we are safe but it's pretty bad where it hit.

Batten down your hatches, Mate....Crikey!

ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
It hit north of us Murphy and Stanley so we are safe but it was very bad where it did hit.
DeletePoor Jo she lost a good friend but WTF are we going to do with Izzi. When mom read she chunked the chook in the whole and walked off, I thought mom was going to knock me off the couch from laughing so hard.....maybe she and Izzi are both psycho's.
ReplyDeleteAroo to you,
Sully
Too funny Sully ...... Don't know what we are going to do with that one?? She's tough. Crikey I hope she and your Mom aren't psycho!!!
DeleteWe are sorry to hear about your friend
ReplyDeleteSnorts,
Lily & Edward
Thanks Lily and Edward.
DeleteMOL, guess Izzi wuzn't a fan of da chook. But it did make my momma laff, she are a bit of a psychopath too.
ReplyDeleteI just think it wuz a real waste to put a chook in a hole, ya coulda had a nice chikken sandwich.
Crikey ...... not your Mom too. There's psychopaths everywhere, aye???
DeleteI don't think there was much meat on her bones Travis. She was all feathers, I think.
Poor Jo, I guess ya are gonna have to give her some extra licks when ya see her.
ReplyDeleteHope y'all are ok in dat cyclone.
I sure did give her lots of licks Whitley.
DeleteHi hi hi! Ojo here! Goodbye, Phillip! (Our people feel sad when a Chicken dies too.) Fly with the rainbow under your feathers, little friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ojo ..... it's always sad to lose anyone, aye??
DeleteOh that's too bad about Phillip! We're so sorry for you and the girls. The loss of any pet is devastating!
ReplyDeleteWe hope you weather the storm too, and nobody gets hurt. We are having gale force winds and snow squalls here in WNY today, except it's COLD!!!!!!
Crikey ..... poor you. At least we are NOT cold. It is hot and HUMID here. Very sticky weather. It looks VERY bad to the north of us. Trees down, rooves off houses, debris everywhere. Boats and light planes overturned. The winds were frightening. Its heading our way but breaking up as it heads south. We will be fine.
DeleteWe are so sorry about Phillips passing.....so very sad!
ReplyDeleteNow be very, very careful during the upcoming storm Charlie...stay safe!!!
Smileys!
