Anyone else think these blokes are in plague proportions this year or is just me????

Crikey ...... these blokes are out of control!!  I've never seen so many before. Must have been a good season last year, aye?  They're everywhere!!  Big flocks of 'em, little flocks of 'em, medium sized flocks of 'em ...... they're all over the place. I nearly got me one  the other day. They're great fun to chase but they fly away just as you get up close and personal with 'em. One was a bit slow on the uptake and I almost got a tail feather.  One of these days I'll do it.  They're awful good lookin' blokes, aye??  AND amusing to watch. They are quite the clowns. Mum LOVES 'em.  She must have a million photos of 'em but here's a few she captured just yesterday out the front of where we are staying and a few in the backyard.
So ..... what'ya reckon?????  Anyone else think they are in plague proportions this year or is it just me??

Out the back.  Crikey .... it's a cocky tree.
Out the front ... another cocky tree!!

He's a fine specimen, aye??  I was keeping a good eye on him as you will see below.

Watch it mate ... I got my eye on you!!!
These next blokes were just having an afternoon feed on the grass seeds out the front.

Sorry .... Mum got a bit carried away but she REALLY loves these blokes. She's got a million more if your interested ...... Yaaaaaawwwwnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanna run ... Love, Charlie.

    1. Crikey Sully .... they fall out of the nest here sometimes. Free for the taking!! My 2 legged sister, Meg, lives in the bush and has rescued a few of them. She looks after them until they can look after themselves and then releases them. She's hand feeding a rainbow lorikeet at the moment. She has to feed him every two hours. He hasn't got many feathers yet and is pretty ordinary lookin' but he'll be really beautiful when they all grow.

He is very loud on his own but I can only imagine what a whole tree of all that yelling would sound like. Yikes! I so love cockatoos and, yes, I would like to see more of mum's cocky pics... but you're pretty cute too, Charlie. So glad to meet you!

Charlie mate, I recall when living in Sydney when heaps of birds started turning up that normally were bush-based and the 'line' was that it was due to environment in bush changing and they were coming in for food.... I am more inclined to think it is climatic.

They are such characters though can cause a bit of havoc. Charlie, you need to know that these critters are INTELLIGENT; trust me, they will work out your modus operandi and work out how to take over the garden. You gotta duck. You gotta weave. You gotta change that around. You gotta give them one day they think they have the place to themselves. Then straight at 'em... and give mum lots more photo ops!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

    1. They're great until they start eatin' your windows out or screechin' in your ear at 5am. You've gotta love 'em a lot, like Mum, to put up with 'em. Mind you ..... I think most Aussies love 'em. No-one ever seems to complain too much about 'em and they can be very destructive in numbers but hey ...... they were here before us, aye??

  21. Wow! We loved seeing all those white birdies! Thanks! When Mom and Dad went to Florida they saw lots and lots of big white birds, except they were called ibis or herons. They were everywhere! The biggest birdies we get around here are Canada Geese, and maybe a heron or a vulture. Thanks again for the beautiful pictures!
